'One third of US military women raped'

Back in 2003, a survey of female veterans suggested that 30 percent of the women serving had been raped, while a study conducted in the following year on veterans seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder indicated that 71 percent of the women said they had been sexually assaulted or raped while serving.


Micro Drones to Fly Surveillance Missions Over The U.S.

In 2007, it was revealed by reporters in Texas that unmanned drones were being used in supposed border control operations. We detailed that report with supporting evidence that drones clearly were being used inland away from border control functions.

Pending FDA approval these specific unmanned aerial vehicles are set to be used domestically throughout the United States. Besides the obvious uses for these drones such as during a legitimate raid, these drones may be used in order to further the police state and restrict free speech in America.

Fake City where the US Government trains to kill Americans

This is the location of the $170 million fake city, roughly the size of Downtown San Diego. If you look at the same area using Google Earth, you will see the construction which is only started in this view has been completed.

This facility is being used to train Marines to fight against Americans in American cities.

However the military strategists looking at this facility will realize that this layout reveals a great deal about current US Urban Battle doctrine. Clearly the emphasis is on controlling the exterior where there is good visibility and the availability of overhead drones. There is clearly less emphasis (less desire) to engage within the buildings themselves, to judge by the de-emphasis in this construction.

The dramatic video of the US killing the Reuter's news crew proves my point; the US prefers to fight their wars from the sky from the safety of their aircraft. Yet Vietnam should have taught the US that wars fought from the air are un-winnable.

If you fight the war the enemy is prepared to fight, you will lose. The United States is not part of Britain because George and the boys refused to do what the British expected them to do. Just something to keep in mind.

Israeli Demolitions of West Bank Homes Soared in 2010

A new collection of data released by Israeli NGO B’Tselem shows that the Israeli government dramatically increased the number of Palestinian homes demolished in the portion of the West Bank that is under full Israeli control.

The data reveals that in the so-called “Area C” region demolitions of Palestinian homes tripled in 2010, with 86 homes destroyed compared to only 28 in the previous year. The demolitions left nearly 500 Palestinians homeless.

Israel doesn't want a two-state solution, and is moving just as quickly as they can to create a one-state solution which leaves all Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem homeless, landless, and destitute.

This past week was a perfect example of how the "Internet kill switch" is rapidly becoming one of the favorite new tools of tyrannical governments all over the globe. Once upon a time, the Internet was a bastion of liberty and freedom, but now nation after nation is cracking down on it. In fact, legislation has been introduced once again in Congress that would give the president of the United States an "Internet kill switch" that he would be able to use in the event of war or emergency.


Internet 'Kill Switch' Bill Reintroduced

On the same day that Egypt's Internet went dark, senators Joseph Lieberman and Susan Collins re-introduced a bill granting President Obama the authority to shut down the Internet within the United States.

I think the people of the world should adapt as a policy the Kennedy approach. John F. Kennedy set it as policy of the United States that an attack anywhere in the western Hemisphere would be viewed as an attack on the United States itself, with the appropriate response to follow.

This policy worked to deter an attack.

I therefore conclude that the policy we should declare is that an attack on the internet anywhere in the world is an attack on us all, an attack by the governments against the people. Shutting down the internet is the opening salvo in a war of conquest, and the proper course of action is to acknowledge the government has declared war on the people as of that moment, and to respond in kind.


There is No Internet in Egypt

The Internet is reportedly down in Cairo and across Egypt, with users denied both online access and SMS access. The shut off comes just hours before planned protests against Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Egyptian protesters have been particularly effective at utilizing social media to organize and mobilize—this past Tuesday's protest was largely arranged via Twitter. State officials have yet to comment on the lack of service.

Egypt today shut down the operations of the Arabic satellite TV channel al-Jazeera, blaming it for encouraging the country's uprising - and demonstrating that the repressive powers of central government are still functioning.

The state-run Mena news agency reported that the information ministry had ordered "suspension of operations of al-Jazeera, cancelling of its licences and withdrawing accreditation to all its staff, as of today".


Egypt turns off internet, Lieberman wants same option for US

On Thursday Jan 27th at 22:34 UTC the Egyptian Government effectively removed Egypt from the internet. Nearly all inbound and outbound connections to the web were shut down. The internet intelligence authority Renesys explains it here and confirms that "virtually all of Egypt's Internet addresses are now unreachable, worldwide." This has never happened before in the entire history of the internet, with a nation of this size. A block of this scale is completely unheard of, and Senator Joe Lieberman wants to be able to do the same thing in the US.


Egypt Shuts Down Internet And Text Messaging Ahead Of Million-Man Protests

Reports are emerging that Internet has gone down in Cairo and perhaps throughout Egypt, only hours before the largest planned protests yet.

According to a report from The Arabist, "Egypt has shut off the internet."

The fastest way to bring down a dictator is to force him to act like one where everyone can see it.

As Bill Engvall would say, "Here's your sign!"

Shutting off the internet will only enrage people all the more. Think of the rioting that breaks out during blackouts, only worse, because the people know the shutting off of the internet is a deliberate attack by the government. By this action, Mubarak has admitted the rule of law has failed and it is the tyrant against the people. My money is on the people.

Worse, even if the organizers of the protests wanted to cool things down,now they cannot. The riots will no longer be on planned locations, the rioting will be everywhere!

Way to go Egypt! Time to bury another Pharaoh!


How Egypt did (and how your government could) shut down the Internet

How hard is it, exactly, to kill the Internet? Egypt seems to have been able to do it. But Egypt's situation isn't exactly the same as that in the Western world. And even though Egypt only has four big ISPs, the fact that everything went down after midnight local time suggests that it took considerable effort to accomplish the 'Net shut-off. After all, it seems unlikely that President Hosni Mubarak ordered the Internet to be shut down as he went to bed; such a decision must have been made earlier in the day, and then taken hours to execute.


Brzezinski’s Feared “Global Awakening” Has Arrived

It is important to stress that Brzezinski was not lauding the onset of this “global political awakening,” he was decrying it. Despite internet blockade; photos, videos of Egypt protests flood social media

As is the case with all the socio-political developments across the globe, social media emerged as a potent tool for the anti-government protestors in Egypt. Despite the blockade imposed on internet and mobile communication services by the authorities, photos and videos as well as responses to the Egypt unrest flood social media.Threatened by the possibility of what could follow if access to internet and other modes of communication continued, the authorities quickly turned to blockades.


ElBaradei willing to lead an interim government in Egypt

Prominent opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei said he is willing to head a transitional government in Egypt if the public asked him to do so, regional news network al-Arabiya reported on Thursday.

The statement comes as Egypt faces its third day of clashes between police and anti-government demonstrators calling for President Hosni Mubarak to step down.

ElBaradei, the former International Atomic Energy Agency chief turned Egyptian dissident, was expected to return to Cairo on Thursday from his residence in Vienna.

ElBaradei and Supporters Hit With Water Cannons!

Police also used water cannons against Egypt's pro-democracy leader Mohamed ElBaradei and his supporters as they joined the latest wave of protests after noon prayers. Police also used batons to beat some of ElBaradei's supporters, who surrounded him to protect him.

A soaking wet ElBaradei was trapped inside a mosque nearly an hour after him and his supporters were water cannoned. Hundreds of riot police laid siege to the mosque, firing tear gas in the streets surrounding it so no one could leave. The tear gas canisters set several cars ablaze outside the mosque. Several people fainted and suffered burns.

Tens of thousands of anti-government protesters poured into the streets of Egypt Friday, stoning and confronting police who fired back with rubber bullets and tear gas in the most violent and chaotic scenes yet in the challenge to President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule. One protester was killed and even a Nobel Peace laureate was placed under house arrest after joining demonstrations.

Thousands of protesters gathered across Cairo and other cities on Friday including the eastern Egyptian hotspot of Suez and the Nile Delta cities of Mansoura and Sharqiya, calling for an end to "corruption" and "dictatorship," Al Arabiya TV reported.

Protesters gathered near the presidential palace in Nasr City, outside of Cairo’s city center, according to Al Arabiya TV.

Police fired rubber bullets at thousands of protesters who had gathered outside the prominent al-Azhar mosque in central Cairo after Friday prayers, a Reuters witness said.

'Army out' in Egyptian capital

Egyptian military vehicles were sighted on the streets of Cairo on Friday after a day of violent clashes between police and protesters demanding an end to President Hosni Mubarak's rule.

Protesters had previously chanted slogans calling for the army to support them, complaining of police violence during clashes on Friday in which security forces fired teargas and rubber bullets.

"Where is the army? Come and see what the police is doing to us. We want the army. We want the army," the protesters in one area of central Cairo shouted, shortly before police fired teargas on them.

Egypt army says demands legitimate, will not shoot

CAIRO — The all-poweful army said on Monday Egyptians’ demands were legitimate and vowed not to fire on them as protesters, who are demanding the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, prepared a general strike and million-strong marches.
But while the posture the police will take in the face of the strike and marches remains unknown, the army said unequivocally it will not stop them.

“To the great people of Egypt, your armed forces, acknowledging the legitimate rights of the people,” stress that “they have not and will not use force against the Egyptian people,” said a statement published by the state news agency, Mena.

Commodities traders have warned they are seeing the first signs of panic buying from states concerned about the political implications of rising prices for staple crops.

However, the tactic risks simply further pushing up prices, analysts have warned, pushing a spiral of food inflation.

Governments in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa have recently made large food purchases on the open market in the wake of unrest in Tunisia which deposed president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali.

Resentment at food shortages and high prices, as well as repression and corruption, drove the popular uprising which swept away his government.

Youths reportedly chanted "bring us sugar!" in the demonstrations which toppled his regime.

Algeria purchased 800,000 tonnes of milling wheat on Wednesday and Saudi Arabia has said it will purchase enough wheat for a 12 month reserve.

Egypt, which has seen several days of unrest in part provoked by high food prices, is expected to follow.

Bangladesh has tripled its rice import target and Indonesia this week bought 820,000 tonnes of Thai rice.

Jim Gerlach, of commodity brokerage A/C Trading, said: "Sovereign nations are beginning to stockpile food to prevent unrest." "You artificially stimulate much higher demand when nations start to increase stockpiles."

"This is only the start of the panic buying," said Ker Chung Yang, commodities analyst at Singapore-based Phillip Futures. "I expect we'll have more countries coming in and buying grain."

Prices have not hit the peaks seen in 2008 when inflation caused a food price crisis, but economists have warned they still have the power to topple regimes.

I don't think anyone created a food shortage. One is happening because of the triple whammy of farmlands destroyed by flooding from failed flood-control infrastructure, lower yields from GM crops, and an agricultural sector warned to prepare for global warming and thus totally unprepared for the hard freeze that has hit for the third winter in a row. No plot is needed; simple greed and stupidity explains everything we are dealing with.


Egypt stock trading suspended after drop

Egypt's stock exchange suspended trading temporarily on Thursday after a sharp drop, amid the largest anti-government protests in the country in three decades.

The suspension came after the benchmark EGX 30 index dropped 6.2 percent, a day after it recorded a fall of six percent.


Nothing for free: Egyptians feel the economic pinch of protest

There is no money at the banks. Fuel is scarce. Tourism is evaporating.

As a popular uprising to oust President Hosni Mubark enters its second week, Egyptians are feeling the economic pinch.

Banks have been shut since Sunday, and they remained so on Tuesday, the day that protesters hope will see a million-strong demonstration in Cairo to demand an end to Mubarak's regime.

Many automatic teller machines (ATM) in the teeming capital have run out of cash, and those still working were dispensing only a limited number of banknotes.

"I scoured the city in search of an automatic teller and I found only one place -- in a neighbourhood where people do not normally use ATMs," said Mohamed, a driver.

Rachmi Haidi, a 60-year-old Egyptian school principal told Haaretz "What is happening now is the result of Mubarak and his gang plundering the nation for 30 years. They represent the interests of the United States and Israel, not Egypt."

30 Killed, Over 1,000 Wounded in Egypt As Army Deploys

The Egyptian government’s crackdown on protesters escalated dramatically today, leaving at least 30 people dead and over 1,000 others wounded. Reports have at least 13 people being slain in the city of Suez alone.

Much of the violence came early in the day, when the police were attacking protesters and in many cases using live ammunition against them. Eventually though, the police were driven back into their stations, and many of those stations were burned, which is when President Mubarak called in the military.


Death Toll In Egypt's Protest Reaches 74

CAIRO Jan 29 (Reuters) - At least 74 people have been killed in protests across Egypt calling for an end to the rule of President Hosni Mubarak, according to a tally from Reuters reports from medical sources, hospitals and witnesses.

There was no official figure, and the real figure may be very different, given the confusion on the streets.

Some 68 deaths were reported killed in Cairo, Suez and Alexandria during Friday's protests. Before then, security sources said at least six people, including a police officer had been killed.

On Saturday, medical sources told Reuters around 2,000 people had been wounded throughout the country, however with more protests erupting, that number is almost certain to rise.
This was over 7 hours ago.


Egypt riots escalate; political prisoners shot

Egypt riots escalate: The riots raging on in Egypt have spread into several prisons in the country Saturday, as at last eight detainees were reportedly killed in a jail holding political prisoners.

If Hosni Mubarak or his cohorts thought for one second that this was going to calm the situation down, these people are officially out of his mind.

Democracy Now‘s senior producer Sharif Kouddous is tweeting from Egypt, and reports that Egyptians are actually cleaning the streets of trash and forming neighborhood watch committees to protect innocent Egyptians from the looters. Furthermore, Al-Jazeera is reporting that apprehended looters were in possession of central security services IDs and government issued weapons.

Israeli embassy staff evacuate Egypt

Helicopters evacuated the embassy staff to an Egyptian airbase on Friday, where they were flown back to Tel Aviv. The evacuation came after a group of Egyptian demonstrators passed by the embassy building, according to the daily al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper.

Reports also said the Israeli ambassador, himself, has fled Egypt after the discovery by Egyptian security of a Mossad spy network in the capital Cairo.

On Thursday, an Israeli minister, whose name was withheld, said Egyptian government forces will have to exercise force to rein in public protests as the country teeters on the brink of a Tunisia-style revolution.

Israel Agrees To Egypt Troops In Sinai

Israeli officials said Monday that they have agreed to let Egypt move several hundred troops into the Sinai peninsula for the first time since the countries reached peace three decades ago.

With street protests threatening the Egyptian regime, the officials say that Israel allowed the Egyptian army to move two battalions – about 800 soldiers – into Sinai on Sunday. The officials said the troops were based in the Sharm el-Sheikh area on Sinai's southern tip, far from Israel.

Proof positive that Israel continues to support the dictatorship of Mubarak.

But even this measure may not be able to prevent Mubarak from stepping down.


Israel urges world to curb criticism of Egypt's Mubarak

Israeli officials are keeping a low profile on the events in Egypt, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu even ordering cabinet members to avoid commenting publicly on the issue.

Senior Israeli officials, however, said that on Saturday night the Foreign Ministry issued a directive to around a dozen key embassies in the United States, Canada, China, Russia and several European countries. The ambassadors were told to stress to their host countries the importance of Egypt's stability. In a special cable, they were told to get this word out as soon as possible.

Israel is attempting to control the agenda here, but ultimately may not be able to.

"Stability" under the reign of a tinpot dictator has ultimately cost the Egyptian people a price they are no longer willing to bear.

Will there be some "payback" in terms of Israel when the new government in Egypt is established?!? Most probably; however, the new Egyptian government will, under no circumstances, want a war with Israel; they will be too busy trying to keep up with the promises they will have made to the people of Egypt.

The United States of America, the British government, and Germany government, and French government. Because the United States stand beside Hosni Mubarak 100 percent. "If the people are free in Egypt... they're going to go free Palestinians, they're going to destroy Israel. The country who control the United States is Israel!" he exclaimed.

OK, we knew this was coming, from some unsourced agent/provocateur, or perhaps a Mossad agent in the crowd.

Egypt cannot attack Israel, because the Israel could conceivably nuke Egypt, and turn it into smoldering green glass. Post Mubarak, Egypt will have all it can do to keep its infrastructure together, and deliver on the promises whatever new government makes to its people.

Additionally, US is strategically bound to defend Israel, no matter what.

So any real attack against Israel is an absolute no-go.

But Egyptians have the right to be upset with a fossilized, 30 year old dictatorship which supported Israel in everything Israel has done, including their treatment of the Palestinians, which doesn't appear to be changing for the better any time soon.

So yes, the new government may be legitimately - and reasonably - not happy with Israeli leadership, but a call to war against it? I sincerely doubt it. The new Egyptian leadership and people will simply want to fulfill their own destiny, peacefully, and part of making that happen is going to be trade, not war.


'Mubarak may ask Israel for help'

A Former CIA Analyst says it is very much possible that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will ask Israel to help him out of the mess he is in. In an interview with Press TV's U.S. Desk on Sunday, Ray McGovern said "I would not exclude the possibility that Mubarak enlist Israeli help to assist him to hang on to power."

McGovern says Israel could help Mubarak with the newly appointed Vice President Omar Suleiman's takeover and "repress the protests in the country."

Egypt's Hosni Mubarak appointed Omar Suleiman, the country's spy chief as the next vice-president on Saturday.

The former CIA analyst called Suleiman "poison to the people who are demanding their rights."

The United States and Iraq started organising Sunday the evacuation of their nationals from Egypt as an angry anti-government revolt raged into a sixth day amid increasing lawlessness and mass jail breaks.

Unspoken Concern Over Egyptian Uprising: Control Of Suez Canal And Price Of Gas

The government of Egypt right now is in turmoil.

A social media fueled uprising of Egyptian citizens is still very much a fluid story, but already it seems very unlikely that current President Hosni Mubarak will be able to stay in power without instituting some sort of freedom crushing policy of martial law. CNBC anchor implies US must support dictators to keep cheap oil flowing

CNBC contributor Erin Burnett said Friday that oil prices would skyrocket if countries in the Middle East broke out from under the rule of brutal dictators.

Appearing on a Friday broadcast of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Burnett said that the ongoing revolution in Egypt could threaten US interests in the region due to Egypt's history as an ally on matters pertaining to Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan.

If we would have spent as much developing alternative energy as we have pursuing these immoral and illegal wars to obtain oil and natural gas, we wouldn't need the oil from the Middle East any more.

But historically, Burnett is correct in that the US has made a habit of supporting tinpot dictators to make sure that the oil flows, and at a reasonable price. Two examples of this are the US government's support of Ali Saleh in Yemen, and the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia.

Yemen is now experiencing massive demonstrations; one has to wonder if Saudi Arabia will be next?!?

Clinton Ambassador Meeting: Unprecedented Mass Meeting Of Top Envoys

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is convening an unprecedented mass meeting of U.S. ambassadors.

The top envoys from nearly all of America's 260 embassies, consulates and other posts in more than 180 countries will be gathering at the State Department beginning on Monday. Officials say it's the first such global conference.

Translation: Secretary of State Clinton is going to tell these Ambassadors precisely how they are going to "sell" Israel's agenda of what happens if Mubarak stays, or if he is overturned to those countries where they are representatives of the US.

Two of the worst scenarios which could unfold would be if Israel invades at the Sinai desert to encircle Gaza, and really starve the Gazans into submission, or if American troops come into the fray, as either of these moves will only antagonize both Egypt - and the rest of the Arab world - against it.

Such a move could go regional in a heartbeat, inflaming all of the Middle East.

Unfortunately, as I type this, the Connecticut National Guard is on its way to Sinai, and this does not bode well for peace or tranquility in the region at all.


US army to send aerial backup to Sinai

Connecticut National Guard Detachment 2, Company I, 185th Aviation Regiment of Groton left Connecticut on January 15 for Fort Benning, for further training and validation, a Press TV correspondent reported on Monday.

Fort Benning is a United States Army base located southeast of the city of Columbus in Alabama.

The unit, which has been deployed to the Middle East three times in the past seven years, has provided support for US and international forces stationed in war-torn Iraq and Afghanistan.

When we see this unit deploy from Fort Benning, we'll know that the US has decided to do everything possible, including military intervention in Egypt, to crush this rebellion.

No oil supply crisis over Egypt: IEA

PARIS - The global oil market does not face any emergency, the head of the International Energy Agency said on Tuesday, after crude breached $100 per barrel on unrest in Egypt. “It is not an emergency now,” Nobuo Tanaka told Reuters.

“If a disruption happens, we should act,” he added, referring to both the IEA and the oil producing group OPEC.

Even a closure of the Suez canal would only delay, rather than cut, oil supply, Tanaka said.

Brent crude hit $100 per barrel for the first time since 2008 on fears instability could spread through the Middle East, which together with North Africa pumps over a third of the world’s oil.

Overall, he told an audience in Singapore, widening imbalances across and within countries were sparking tensions that threaten to derail the fragile global economic recovery -- and could even spark armed conflict.

Pro-Democracy Revolutions a Big Problem for US

For decades it seemed that the US was able to keep its authoritarian allies propped up more or less indefinitely, but the simmering unrest combined with crumbling economies across the region have combined to produce a region-wide phenomenon, where every US-backed dictator appears at risk.

But in the near term, it is two of the most important President-for-life figures, Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak and Yemen’s Ali Abdullah Saleh, that are at the most risk. In each case the US is giving lip-service to the notion of some “reforms” but are conceding they won’t want anything that might threaten the rule of their allies, particularly any pesky elections.

The consistent, pathological hypocrisy of US foreign policy stinks mightily here.

We cannot, as a nation, talk about human rights, human dignity, or the importance of free and fair elections when we do not practice what we preach.

I would really like those in the bowels of power in DC to remember one thing; when peaceful revolution becomes impossible, violent revolution becomes inevitable; this is what we have seen happening in Tunisia, and are seeing happen in Egypt and Yemen.

When an entire population becomes enraged with a miserable quality of life; when they see the leadership plunder their country's wealth for their own empowerment, there aren't enough guns and bullets we can supply any tinpot dictator to ultimately stop these movements.


Cairo Is Falling

Reports emerging from Cairo, Egypt, make clear a Mubarak regime in downfall. Apparently the airport in Cairo is jammed, and Mubarak family members are reported to have arrived in London.

The pattern for Egyptian Army units has been one of peacemakers and non-opposition to the protesters. The Egyptian Army appears neutral, but unwilling to crush government opposition.

And given the behavior of our own government, I guess keeping peace with Israel trumps taking care of your own people. Clearly, what started in Iceland and has reached Cairo cannot and will not stop until it reaches 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

No government can serve two masters. A government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. America needs leaders who will put America first, second, and third. Clearly, as Hillary just demonstrated yet again, we do not have a government that serves the American people.

Right now the question on everyone's mind is whether this international revolution that started in Iceland will go global, and whether it will come to the United States. I think that it not only can come to the US but that it must come to the US. There really is no way to avoid it. The money-addicts have created a world where firing the government is not only the best option; for most of us it is the only option. To not revolt is to spend the rest of our lives in starvation and debt slavery to Goldman-Sachs, etc. et. al. under a government with a demonstrated history of looting the people to feed the bankers, a government that views our lives as cheap and easily sacrificed for wars of conquest, or to be discarded without complaint to keep Israel happy when it attacks Americans in international waters.

The tragic reality is that the US Government has already declared war on the people of the United States. Bit by bit our rights are trampled on. Our emails are read, our phone calls listened to, our computers ransacked, all without warrant or due process. Torture and extrajudicial executions are the new reality of life under this regime. Our freedoms are confiscated to save the government from its fear of the people. Look around at our deteriorated state and you see the growing effects of a war of conquest by our government and financial institutions against the people. The starvation and privations of the American people not only equals that of the nations in revolt; they are in actuality far worse! Americans have far greater reason to fire their government than the Icelanders, Tunisians, or Egyptians!

What Patrick Henry really meant in those final words went beyond mere drama. Patrick Henry declared that he would no longer be a slave, either to King George or to the Bank of England. He would be free, or he would be dead, but either way King George III would no longer own him as a slave, so better for England to quit and save the lives of their soldiers. Of course, money-addicts never care about the lives of their soldiers.

Addicts to other peoples' money know no limits, no morality, no sense of fair play. They are hopelessly trapped by the allure of that next pile of cash. Bernie Madoff is the classic example. Co-founder of NASDAQ, with more money than any one man could spend in a lifetime, and he still felt compelled to defraud his investors for another $65 billion. This is the money-addiction that grips Wall Street and Washington DC, which manifests as a psychotic compulsion to wear the entire productivity of a worker's life as a decoration on one's wrist. Not content with that, next year it will be the need to wear the the entire productivity of 100 workers' lives as a decoration on one's wrist that will drive the money addicts to greater crimes against the people.

Money addicts do not see their behavior as wrong or evil. Secure in their religious delusions that wealth is the sign of God's favor, they see themselves as heroes and heroines. Lloyd Blankfein, the head of Goldman Sachs, declared he was doing "God's work" at the time we now know Goldman Sachs was looting taxpayer money directly from the US Treasury to their own pockets. In their own minds the money addicts are the good guys; the stars of the world, the rightful inheritors of all of life's blessings. Sadly, history has shown that it will be far easier to kill them than to cure their addiction, let alone get them to change their minds about themselves and to acknowledge their problem and its high social costs.

So, yes, a revolution in the streets of America is now an inevitability. The money-addicts in Wall Street and DC have created a situation in which it is unavoidable. And as is the case in Egypt, the US military, openly abused on their mortgages by J. P. Morgan, will likely stand with the people.

Last Friday's announcement that Goldman Sach's top executives were having their salaries tripled even as the FCIC report made public their massive crimes against the American people and the mortgage-backed securities fraud against their investors, tells me that the money-addicts know the end is at hand, and like a drug addict who knows the police will soon be at the door, are going on one final all-out binge!


The Egyptian intifada and what it may mean for Israel/Palestine

The Egyptian uprising against the Mubarak regime is historic and important in its own right. But it may also lead to significant changes in the region that could be positive for the Palestinian cause. Israel is worried about a reliable ally being toppled next door.

The Mubarak dictatorship is a core pillar of the U.S./Israeli order in the Middle East, an order that completely ignores the wishes and aspirations of people on the ground. The U.S. and Israel are scared of the new order that is to come.

Obviously, the government of the United States (and for that matter Great Britain) have an obvious motive for trying to obfuscate the real cause of the uprising. Likewise, people in Britain, especially students, have come to understand that their loss of financial support for education serves no purpose but to prop up the banks and ensure their permanent debt-enslavement via the student loan usury. Again, their hardship only exists because of the greed of the bankers and the corruption and ineptitude of the government.

As corrupt government after corrupt government falls to the rage of their people, propagandists in the US and other fascist plutocracies are scheming to prevent their own people from drawing inspiration from Egypt, as Egypt drew inspiration from Tunisia, which drew inspiration from Greece, Iceland, etc.

So the lie is a simple one. "Oh no" goes the official story, "These are not real revolutions, but merely staged set pieces we ourselves created to amuse and delight you on the evening news. They are but a magician's trick full of sparks and smoke and devoid of any meaning beyond the immediate spectacle. So take no notice, and learn no lessons, for all is illusion!"

But use your common sense. Why would anyone deliberately trigger so many revolutions occurring so quickly and setting in effect a fashion trend of rebellion for the entire globe? To what purpose would such a risk be taken? Would it not make more sense to bide one's time and topple just one nation at a time, with a comfortable interval in between, as has been the historic pattern for the US for so many decades?

Of course it would.

The government is terrified that rebellion is becoming the new global fashion trend. And therein lies the motive to scream that the Egyptian/Tunisian/Yemeni/Albanian designer dress is really a cheap knock-off from Foggy Bottom!

Public Unrest Boils Over in Albania

BUCHAREST, Jan 27, 2011 (IPS) - The Albanian opposition is set to hold another mass rally on Friday, even though three people were killed during an anti-government demonstration last week, allegedly by armed forces of the Ministry of Interior.

On Jan. 21, over 20,000 people demonstrated in capital Tirana against the conservative government of Prime Minister Sali Berisha (opposition estimates go as high as 200,000). Three people were shot dead after hundreds of demonstrators attempted to escalate the police barricade protecting the prime minister’s office.


Thousands of Albanian protest despite warnings

Another propped-up American puppet is about to be shown the door.

When Rome fell, it began when the outlying provinces, ruled by Rome's puppets, realized they could break away following the loss of the legion in Germany, which left Rime unable to threaten all the provinces at the same time. As the Legions marches to one end of the empire to quell an uprising, a province at the other end would break away. Rome was eventually whittled down to a mere shadow of their former glory.

That is what is happening here. The American empire is in collapse. Provinces are breaking away. Some of the rebellions are rather mild, such as the flurry of South American nations defying the United States in order to recognize Palestine. But more and more the revolt against American imperialism is turning violent. Eventually, it will start to happen here inside the United States. The government is already preparing to kill Americans to re-assert their imperial control over the people on behalf of their masters in Tel Aviv.

But the US Government may have already lost the revolution because they have created an economic situation in which the people of the nation including the serving military understand that to support and protect the current regime is to guarantee a lifetime of debt-slavery.

We have all read the stories where J. P. Morgan was overcharging military families and illegally foreclosed on many of their homes. Only yesterday, we reported on the predatory lending institutions lined up outside the gates at military bases to trap soldiers into debt-slavery the way students are trapped by "higher" education. Those soldiers the US Government is training to kill Americans in revolt have to be figuring out that if they succeed in protecting Washington DC all it means is a lifetime of more invasions and paying off the $14 trillion borrowed to pour all over Wall Street.

That sort of awareness dampens enthusiasm for killing your fellow citizen. Sooner or later the US military rank and file will come to understand they are fighting not only to make the people slaves to a fascist economy, but themselves as well. After murdering their fellow Americans and possibly suffering death or disfigurement themselves, America's victorious defenders will still live in a nation where the government sends them to die in wars against Israel's enemies, where the taxes are spent to pay off Wall Street's gambling debts, where the emails are being read and the phone conversations listened to, and where the government they just saved form revolt will once again turn a blind eye to their medical bills.

This may be the reason we are hearing rumors of mutinies on the military bases themselves, with "Security" lockdowns reported recently at Fort Bragg and Dugway. The Fort Hood shooting was reported by inside sources to have been a brief mutiny in which the deaths were blamed on a convenient Muslim to conceal the truth from the American people.

Bye Bye Blackbird: USDA acknowledges a hand in one mass bird death

It's not the "aflockalyptic" fallout from a secret US weapon lab as some have theorized. But the government acknowledged Thursday that it had a hand in one of a string of mysterious mass bird deaths that have spooked residents in Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, South Dakota, and Kentucky in the last month.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) took responsibility for hundreds of dead starlings that were found on the ground and frozen in trees in a Yankton, S.D., park on Monday.

The USDA's Wildlife Services Program, which contracts with farmers for bird control, said it used an avicide poison called DRC-1339 to cull a roost of 5,000 birds that were defecating on a farmer's cattle feed across the state line in Nebraska. But officials said the agency had nothing to do with large and dense recent bird kills in Arkansas and Louisiana.

Nevertheless, the USDA's role in the South Dakota bird deaths puts a focus on a little-known government bird-control program that began in the 1960s under the name of Bye Bye Blackbird, which eventually became part of the USDA and was housed in the late '60s at a NASA facility. In 2009, USDA agents euthanized more than 4 million red-winged blackbirds, starlings, cowbirds, and grackles, primarily using pesticides that the government says are not harmful to pets or humans.


First Birds & Fish, Now Hundreds of Cows are Dying

The year 2011 just begun, but so far you can call it "The Year of Animals Dying in Mass." The year opened with thousands of birds falling from the sky Arkansas, Louisiana and Kentucky. Then fish were dying Illinois and Maryland. Now hundreds of cows in Wisconsin have been struck dead.

Some 200 cows were found dead at a farm in Portage County, Wisconsin last Friday. But unlike those other animal deaths, its turns out there is a simple explanation for this one. According to preliminary results released this week, the cows died from acute interstitial pneumonia.

Health officials say there is no risk of the pneumonia spreading to humans or the other animals on the farm. Still, no one knows how these cows became infected. Farm owner Jerry Krupka has a theory, though.

Hundreds Of Dead Birds In South Dakota Were Killed By U.S. Government

It was initially believed that cold weather may have caused the bird deaths, but then Yankton police received a call from the USDA, attesting that they had poisoned the birds at a feedlot 10 miles away, KTIV reports.

Himalayan glaciers not melting because of climate change, report finds

Researchers have discovered that contrary to popular belief half of the ice flows in the Karakoram range of the mountains are actually growing rather than shrinking.

The discovery adds a new twist to the row over whether global warming is causing the world's highest mountain range to lose its ice cover.

It further challenges claims made in a 2007 report by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that the glaciers would be gone by 2035.

LONDON - There is some good news regarding climate change - glaciers are actually growing!

The reason being that hotter summers may actually slow down the flow of glaciers, according to researchers.

Increased melting in the warmer summer is causing the internal drainage system of the ice sheet to accommodate more melt-water, without speeding up the flow of ice toward the oceans, the journal Nature reports.

Half of the ice flows in the Karakoram range of mountains are advancing and not retreating, researchers announced in the first major study since a 2007 United Nations report warned the glaciers would melt by 2035, according to the Daily Mail.

That is, the arctic ice during January 2009 compared to January 2010 compared to January 2011, all purposefully compared during the same month of each year.

This observation is looking at ice thickness – not surface area – although some retreat of 1 meter ice can be seen in the Labrador Sea.


Up to 500,000 square miles of the arctic sea region may have thickened from approximately 5 feet thick during January 2009 to approximately 10 feet thick during January 2011.


The ice thickness scale color, dark blue, corresponds to about 1.5 meters, or about 5 feet.

Chicagoans shivered through the coldest weather in two years Friday. A morning low of -4 at O'Hare and -1 at Midway marked the first time city thermometer readings had dropped below zero in more than a year. A -3 or lower temperature hadn't occurred at O'Hare since January 16, 2009.

Wind chill warnings were in effect across much of Eastern and Central Canada Monday morning, with near record-breaking temperatures in a number of cities.

Warnings were issued for the entire province of New Brunswick, where a cold air mass and brisk northwest winds forced temperatures down to between –35 and –38 overnight and into Monday morning, according to the Environment Canada weather office.

Temperatures were expected to plummet in southeast and southwest Quebec to between –25 C and –40 C. As of 7 a.m., it was –28 C in Quebec City, or –42 with the wind chill.

In Ottawa it was –30 C, but felt like –38 with the wind chill, the weather office said. In Toronto, it was –20 C with a wind chill of –26.

Temperatures are expected to remain frigid in many areas until Tuesday morning.

The same Arctic blast affecting Canada was blamed for two deaths in the northeastern United States, where temperatures dropped to –34 C overnight.
